“Shawtown 1832 – 1879: Freedom’s Ghost Town” by Carol Foord
Carole Foord was President of the Freedom Historical Society from 1996 to 2002. She was an enthusiastic historian and storyteller. Carole was also a prolific writer, authoring historical notes for the books, “Sketches of Freedom” (2000) and “Places of Historic and Scenic Interest in Carroll County, New Hampshire” (2006). She also co-authored “Ossipee Riverlands” (2000).
Carole was an expert on the historic Shawtown Neighborhood of Freedom, and one of her missions was to share the story and preserve the historic cellar holes there.
